Quitting smokeless tobacco isn’t easy… we know. We all were users just like you. KillTheCan.org is an organization designed with the sole purpose of helping people quit dipping. We used smokeless tobacco, cigarettes and cigars for years – sometimes decades. We understand what it’s like to quit nicotine.
The good news is that quitting smokeless tobacco IS possible. Your decision to take back your freedom from spit tobacco is one of the best you will ever make. It will be worth it in the end.
Here at KTC we do something called “posting roll”. Roll call is our DAILY promise that we will not use nicotine in any form for that day. Just one day. This includes ALL forms of smokeless tobacco, dip, chew, SNUS, cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT).
Rest assured, just because our site is called Kill the CAN doesn’t mean we won’t help smokers, ZYN users, vapers and snusers as well. After all… if you’re smoking cigarettes, using a vape pen or sucking on snus, you’re using nicotine. You’re more than welcome to join us.
Adding a support group to your quit will GREATLY increase your chances of success. The KTC DISCORD SERVER is the best place to get locked into your quit and get to know your fellow quitters! Is is completely free to join and offer the best quit dipping support group available! Also, join us in our Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/killthecan. Get your questions answered from people who’ve successfully quit chewing tobacco!

I do have an upcoming dentist appointment. I will ask.
Neither pain nor discomfort, just a feeling. And it moves around to different places in my mouth. This may sound odd and unscientific, but it feels like my gums are trying to get rid of the massive amount of nicotine absorbed over 29 years.
That would have been my exact same (unscientific) thought as well… you’d be SHOCKED how long it takes for our bodies to recover from our addiction. Keep me posted… interested in what your dentist has to say.
Question… have you joined our Discord server yet? http://www.killthecan.org/discord/
Beat up, actually, thanks, but overall happy. Was dipping for 29 years. Some seriously funky withdrawal effects, even now, 4 weeks in as of tonight. I’ll check out discord. I’m committed, no turning back, not after what I’ve been through these last 4 weeks. I don’t want to go through that again.
PS — My doctor recommended nic patches when I was one week in because my withdrawal was pretty severe (for example, a trip to the ER with crazy high blood pressure). I declined to do it when I realized I wasn’t going to die, I just felt like I was. It was a good decision.

It was an AMAZING decision to not use patches… I’m shocked to hear that your doctor would prescribe that. Actually, not as shocked as I’d have been years ago. As you said, no turning back now. You’re NIC FREE!
Just over 6 weeks now. My gums throb constantly. A normal withdrawal effect for us long time chewers?
@Marrob – I wouldn’t say it’s ‘normal’ but also not the first time I’ve heard that. Have you had an opportunity to chat / see your dentist yet? He may be able to offer you some insight.
Are you in PAIN or just discomfort?
