  2. Day 3 – Finally decided it was time to quit after my 10-month-old found an old dip next to my bed and put it in her mouth. I had fallen asleep with it in my mouth the night before and woke up in the middle of the night and threw it under the bed. You can imagine my wife wasn’t happy about the baby putting my old chew in her mouth, especially since my wife didn’t even know that I dip. It is absolutely ridiculous that i sneak around and dip constantly, and even crazier that my baby was brought into it.

    I’ve been using tobacco in one form or another since I was in middle school in about 1999. Dip became the method of choice in high school because we thought it didn’t interfere with sports, and we liked that we could dip all day in school. Switched to cigarettes in college because smoking was easier to do socially and girls didn’t seem to like the dip. I “quit” smoking cigarettes together with my girlfriend (now wife) in 2005. I probably stayed tobacco free for over a year. Periodically I have been tobacco-free for months at a time, but i have spent the majority of the last 10 years sneaking around and using tobacco in some form. Somehow I relapse every time. It usually begins with a cigarette at a bachelor party, a cigar at a work function, etc. I think I’m ready to acknowledge just how addicted i am to nicotine and that i absolutely can’t have nicotine in any form ever again.

    I’m finding quitting dip to be harder than quitting cigarettes. Until last Saturday, I literally dipped ALL day EVERY day, in particular all day at work as I sat at my desk. That’s a lot of time with a dip in my mouth and a lot of nicotine.

    But I’m looking forward to being free of it. What a disgusting, worthless habit. i have three kids i’m trying to be around for. This is probably the 10th time i’ve “quit” tobacco, and I always make it through the first 2 months, before eventually getting cocky and thinking i can use tobacco socially. what an idiot. This has got to be the last time. I’ve been enjoying the material on the website, thanks for the support

  7. Day 147 I’m addicted to Copenhagen snuff. Time has reduced the urge and thoughts however I know I’m one calculated wrong move away from losing everything I’ve worked for. I remain quit today with all of you and congratulate Rob and Kenny on attaining 600 + days of quit. You both are mentors and two people that give me hope and inspiration every week.
